Since 1884, the Alden Shoe Company has been synonymous with uncompromising quality, timeless design, and American craftsmanship. Founded by Charles H. Alden in Middleborough, Massachusetts, Alden is one of the last great names in traditional shoemaking—and remarkably, the only original New England shoemakers still standing from an era when the region was the very heart of the industry. By the mid-20th century, most of New England’s historic shoemakers could no longer compete in the demanding post-war economy. Many shifted to mass production and lower-quality markets, losing their footing in an increasingly globalized world.
Alden, however, chose a different path. The company doubled down on quality, continuing to focus on traditional dress shoes while also excelling in specialized footwear, such as orthopedic and medical shoes. Their expertise in designing comfortable, orthopedically correct lasts set them apart—and solidified their reputation among discerning customers who valued both elegance and comfort. In 1970, Alden opened a new factory in Middleborough, where production continues today. Over the decades, their shoes have earned a loyal following among professionals, style connoisseurs, and anyone who appreciates timeless craftsmanship. Franco’s is proud to celebrate our partnership with Alden during our upcoming trunk show at our Lakeside location.
Alden Trunk Show will be held Friday, September 12, and Saturday, September 13th at Lakeside.
