Rodd and Gunn's sporty approach to upscale menswear is inspired by the outdoorsy lifestyle and spectacular scenery of its home in New Zealand.

than a third of the island nation is set aside for parks and marine life – fertile ground for multiple sports. Its most populous city, Auckland, has more boats per capita than anywhere else on earth – one for every 11 residents! It’s yachting heaven. And with the landscape taking center stage, their range reflects the forces of nature that shaped the antipodean wonder. The collection comprises of fabrics enhanced with high-performance finishes, such as wax and PU coatings, protect against the harsh winter chill. Their jackets feature varying layers of warmth, and are distinguished with zip out liners and high-performance insulation. Signature styles also include cotton piqué polos embroidered with the brand’s English pointer logo, jeans-style pants crafted of Italian fabrics, and softly tailored jackets.
“The beauty of the collection is that it can be dressed up or dressed down,” says Mark Ambrogi, co-owner of Franco's.
The polo is perfect for weekend casual wear but also looks great worn under a jacket for dining out during mild weather evenings in RVA.
Rodd and Gunn uses very fine quality fabrics – 90 percent of the shirts and all of the pants are made of Italian textiles. They also use special denim from Mauritius for jeans, which offers more of a soft wash.
Pops of color and whimsical prints can be found in the brand's patterned fabrics which enliven the classic palette of blues, grays, sand and wine for fall/winter 2019.

d & Gunn is perhaps the only menswear retailer with a full-time canine ambassador – a handsome speckled liver English pointer named Gunner who travels among Rodd & Gunn’s stores charming customers. (It’s a full-time job for him and his owner.) If he’s not around, you can still see the carved greenstone, a mountain jade of spiritual significance to New Zealand’s Maori and English populations.
